Bright Suns Travelers!
Welcome Back to Mad About It!
In honor of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opening tomorrow I wanted to give you all some tips for your journey to Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.
1. Right, when you enter Black Spire Outpost you will be immersed in this environment. From Galaxy's Edge, you cannot see or hear anything else from Disneyland and the Cast Members here really embrace that. They greet you by saying "Bright Suns" which is used most of the day, use "Rising Moons" for the evening, to say goodbye you can say "Till the Spire" or "May the Spires keep you" either one will work. There are no signs in the land so you just have to know what to say. If you don't it's not the end of the world but they might give you a funny look.
2. As you are entering Galaxy's Edge keep your eyes on the lamps in the tunnel. They are about halfway up the walls, you can't miss them. You will be able to tell the moment you step into Black Spire Outpost.
3. There are 5 places to eat and drink at Black Spire Outpost and you know they are going to be flooded with people from the 31st until probably the end of time. A way to help you beat those crowd is to use mobile ordering through the Disneyland app which will be available for Ronto Rosters, Milk Stand, and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. In my opinion Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is the place to go! The interior is killer and it gives you A LOT of food options.
4. Blue and Green Milk are available at the Milk Stand which is right when you enter the land from the Fantasyland side on your left. The Blue Milk is berry flavored and the Green Milk is citrus flavored. Unlike the movies where we first saw these beverages, they are a smoothie like consistency. You can get both of them or one of them for $7.99. I got the Blue Milk and Connor got the Green Milk. I was not a fan of mine, it was really bland. The Green Milk was the better of the two in my opinion.
5. Smugglers Run is the only ride that will be open and operational when Black Spire Outpost finally opens on the 31st. You meet space pirate Hondo Ohnaka who recruits you to do some seedy operation aboard the Millenium Falcon. As you board the Falcon you come into contact with the Chess Board then are taken to the cockpit. From there you are put into a group of 6 and are given your job. There are 3 positions available Pilot, Gunner, and Engineer. Pilots steer the Flacon, Gunners protect the Falcon, and Engineers repair any damages. Tip: If you are Up and Down Pilot the gears are inverted so you pull back to go up and pull up to go down.
When I first went on this ride I did not like it, I just wanted to sit and enjoy the ride not worry about doing the right thing at the right time or steering the right way. If you are like me, you can opt to just ride the ride by not activating your control panel. The second time around I just enjoyed the ride and it was a lot better for me.
6. Go into Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities and keep your eye out for the Ark Of The Covenant. It is smaller than you would imagine but maybe trying talking to a local and they can help you. This is also a really cool shop in general that you should go into. They have Kyber Crystals and Lightsabers from the most famous Jedi and Sith in the Galaxy. There is also the story between the light side and the dark side depicted on the walls.
7. Do you have what it takes to become a Jedi? Do you feel the force? If so then head to Savi's Workshop where you can create your own lightsaber. There are four choices available. Peace and Justice, Power and Contro, Elemental Nature, and Protection and Defense. You can create ad buy your own lightsaber for $199.99 plus tax. This is a one on one experience that is sure to be out of this galaxy. If you want to do this plan for it because it will fill up fast, there are only 14 spots available at a time so you might need an appointment.
8. Ever dreamed about having your own BB-8 or R2D2? Well, look no further because you can build and create your very own droid at Droid Depot. A Droid of your very own can be had for the price of $99 plus tax and accessories. You can customize with different colors and personalities. There are 3 personalities available First Order, Resistance, or Smuggler. They also interact accordingly in the land as well. Even if you aren't going to customize a droid I would recommend still checking out this shop because the theming is incredible.
9. Want to drink and rub elbows with smugglers and rebels running from the resistance? Visit Oga’s Cantina the only place to get alcoholic beverages in Disneyland with the exception of Club 33. It is meant to be a Family Friendly experience so they will also have non-alcoholic drinks. The space for the Cantina is TINY which means it will fill up quickly and stay that way for a while.
10. Lastly, keep your eye out for some of your favorites roaming around Black Spire Outpost. Don't be surprised if you see Rey walking around looking for BB-8 or Chewie relaxing after dropping off the Falcon. Of course, the first order will be vigilant and on alert as ever so be sure you are behaving accordingly or you might get arrested by some Storm Troopers.
